Skybus Airlines

Skybus, a new discount airline, started service today. With the hub in Columbus, Ohio Skybus will offer deep discount non-stop fares to the West Coast, East Coast, and Kansas City. It’s not clear to me if they offer service from those cities to each other – ie from the site it appears that you’d have to fly via Columbus to go coast to coast.

Both India and China have embarked on ambitious programs to upgrade Airports as part of their economic development and business inititatives. Hopefully (ironically) we’ll see some of the comfortable and luxurious features of these airports start a trend against the more sterile approaches often taken here in the states and Europe. It’ll be interesting to see how different cultures resolve conflicts between comfort, efficiency, and cost.

Los Angeles Airport (LAX) and Ontario Airport (ONT) are reporting that most flights will be “full or nearly full” this summer travel season:

Flights from Los Angeles International (LAX) and Ontario International (ONT) Airports this summer will be full or nearly full due to growing demand for travel and a tight supply of seats. Both airports are expecting another busy summer travel season this year.

If you are planning a trip this summer and don’t have your airline tickets you’ll want to start pricing dates ASAP. Tools like and allow you to provide a range of dates that you can travel. Using a range, rather than specific dates, often opens up cheaper flights.
